Washington Middle School’s Distance Learning Plan
Although the current COVID-19 situation necessitates the closure of our campus to student activities, we are committed to sustaining the connections with our students that support and foster learning, although from a distance. While we cannot replicate the in-person, real-time experience of our classrooms, our plan for distance learning reflects the same care and commitment to our students’ learning.
This website offers our teachers an opportunity to reach out to their students to let them know that we are thinking about them and that we care about them. It provides a vehicle to offer our students meaningful and engaging lessons and activities that invite our students to continue their education. Our teachers will devise ways in which their students will be able to reach out to them and they can reach back and provide the human touch missing in a technology solution.
This website offers our students an opportunity to continue their learning, their sense of community, and their connection, as best as possible, in this unique and challenging situation. We ask our students to set aside time in their day to continue on their educational journey with us. We are committed to learning together in this new context, and to improving with each day.
This website offers our parents, families and the community the opportunity to see and feel the thought and care we commit to each and every student in our charge. It will offer the opportunity to communicate with the school to offer suggestions and support in this trying time.
During the worst of times, the best in us will rise.
